Laylat Al Qadr is a night unlike any other, a night where the heart naturally softens and the soul yearns to turn fully toward Allah Almighty. It is a moment in time when words spoken in sincerity carry immense weight, and supplications (Duas) rise with hope, humility, and trust. Duas made on this night are not rushed or routine; they are sincere, reflective, and deeply personal, shaped by a longing for forgiveness, mercy, and closeness to Allah.
On Laylat Al Qadr believers are invited to lay down their burdens, express their deepest needs, and seek what truly matters, both for this life and the Hereafter. The supplications recited during these blessed hours reflect dependence, gratitude, and an awareness that the mercy of Allah Almighty far exceeds our shortcomings. These duas are powerful not because of their length, but because of the sincerity behind them. They give voice to the heart’s quiet hopes and open the door to renewal, healing, and lasting spiritual transformation.
Recommended Dua for Laylat Al Qadr:
This supplication is the most highly recommended dua to recite on Laylat Al Qadr, taught directly by the Holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to Aisha (RA):
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni
‘O Allah Almighty, Indeed, You are the Forgiver, You love to forgive, so forgive me.’
It centres on seeking forgiveness and mercy, reminding us that the greatest gift to ask for on this blessed night is Allah’s pardon and closeness.
Dua for Need & Mercy:
This supplication is a heartfelt call to Allah for help and mercy:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً
Allahumma inni as’aluka ‘ilman nafi’an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa ‘amalan mutaqabbalan
‘O Allah Almighty, Indeed, I ask You for knowledge that is of beneficial, and sustennance that is pure, and good deeds that will be accepted.’
This Dua reflects our complete reliance on Him, reminding us that every difficulty, weakness, and hope is best placed in the hands of the One who is Most Merciful and fully aware of all our needs.
Dua for Protection & Well-being:
This supplication seeks protection, care, and well-being from Allah Almighty in all aspects of life:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْعَفْوَ وَالْعَافِيَةَ
Allahumma inni as’alukal-‘afwa wal-‘afiyah
‘O Allah, Indeed, I ask You for my forgiveness and well-being.’
This Dua is a reminder that true safety, strength, and peace come from Allah alone, and that placing ourselves under His protection is the foundation of both physical and spiritual well-being.
Dua for Comprehensive Goodness:
This supplication asks Allah Almighty for goodness in its fullest and most complete form:
رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ
Rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanatan wa fil-akhirati hasanatan wa qina ‘adhaban-nar
‘O my Sustainer! Grant us goodness in this world and goodness in the life hereafter, and keep us safe from the punishment of Hellfire.’
This reflects a desire for balance between faith and daily life, seeking what is beneficial in this world and success in the Hereafter, while placing trust in Allah’s wisdom to grant what is truly best.
The Supplication of All Supplications – one of the best Duas:
This supplication is described as one of the most comprehensive and powerful duas, encompassing all forms of goodness, protection, and success. It is recorded in Jami Tirmidhi, Hadith 3521, the companions of holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ recorded that holy Prophet Muhammad ﷺ supplicated with many supplications of which they could not preserve the details. They said: ‘O Messenger of Allah Almighty, you supplicated with many supplications of which we did not preserve the details.’ He said: ‘Should I not direct you to what will include all of the supplications?’
It is:
“O Allah Almighty, we beg of You from the goodness of what Your Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked from You; we beg for refuge in You from what Your Prophet Muhammad ﷺ sought refuge in You, and You are the One from Whom the ultimate assistance can be sought; and it is only You Who can fulfil (that assistance); there is no might, and there is no power except that which is from Allah Almighty.”
This profound Dua brings together the needs of this life and the Hereafter in a single, balanced plea, making it one of the most meaningful supplications a believer can return to again and again.
As the final nights of Ramadan approach, the opportunity for supplication becomes deeper and more precious. These nights are not meant to pass quietly or routinely, but to be approached with intention and awareness. The Holy Prophet ﷺ encouraged believers to seek Laylat Al Qadr during the last ten nights of Ramadan, with particular focus on the odd-numbered nights. This guidance invites consistency rather than reliance on a single moment, encouraging hearts to remain engaged, hopeful, and present throughout these closing days.
During these nights, moments of closeness to Allah can be found not only in long hours of prayer, but in the depth of sincerity. One of the most powerful times for supplication is during sujud, the position of prostration, when a person is closest to Allah. In these moments, the heart is humbled and the body lowered, creating a space where dua flows more freely. Repeating the recommended supplications throughout the night, rather than reciting them once and moving on, reflects persistence and trust. It is often this steady return to Allah, again and again, that shapes the heart most profoundly and allows the final nights of Ramadan to leave a lasting spiritual imprint.

May Allah Almighty accept the worship, supplications, and sincere efforts of every believer on Laylatul Qadr. May these blessed nights bring forgiveness, mercy, and renewed faith into our hearts, and may the prayers offered in quiet humility be answered in the most beautiful of ways. Ameen.
